Preparation Guidelines
Clean-Up Clutter
At Alpha Bed Bug we are here to provide the best service to your home for treating bed bugs, but to do so we need your help. Here is a checklist that we need you to complete prior to the day of service to ensure the best results. PLEASE READ AND FOLLOW ALL DIRECTIONS! If you have any questions, please call us.
Move everything at least 2 feet from the walls. This includes all closets also. Furniture may need to stand on end if capable to maximize the amount of space in the room. If you have a waterbed, it will need to be drained or if you have an air bed, it will need to be deflated. Take down all window blinds (vinyl, wood, etc.) to prevent any stretching or warping.
Luggage must be emptied out and left unlocked since that could have been the way the bed bugs got into your home. Leave in open sight so the technicians can inspect.
Loose papers or lightweight items should be kept together and placed where they cannot be blown around or placed in a box. You may want to remove your electronics, but it’s not necessary. Depending on your infestation level, the bed bugs could be inside your electronics. We do ask that you unplug all your electronics.

The following items need to be removed and placed in totes. Remember to inspect everything before placing it in a tote. Please label “DO NOT HEAT”. Place the boxes by the door, but do not remove from the home.

- The night before you need to dry the clothes that you plan on wearing the next day and keep them in a tightly closed plastic bag.
2. In the morning, shower and put the clothes on that you dried the night before. Leave used clothing in the house.
3. It is very IMPORTANT that you DO NOT sit on any of the furniture. It would be best to get dressed and leave the house.
4. Please make sure that all fire alarms, smoke detectors, fire sprinkler systems, or home security systems ARE ALL DISARMED! Not responsible for the sprinkler system being set off.
5. Unplug all electronics and refrigerator.
After the Heat Treatment
Please stay out of the treated area for 4-6 hours after the heat treatment has been completed. During the heat treatment, items may have been moved around to properly heat an area. If you do not prep your home properly and is cluttered, the disorder to your home could be extensive. The better you prepare your home; the post-cleanup will be more manageable. To get the best results, we will have to move items around to ensure that the maximum heat gets to all areas properly to be able to kill the bed bugs. Items will not be refolded or returned to the same place if they have been moved.
